Would you like to live in an 80% more energy efficient home with cleaner, healthier air? I know it's fun to send Excel energy lots of money every month, but what if you didn't have to?  Last night I had the opportunity to attend a presentation on the Passive House standard from the Colorado Renewable Energy Society, where they explained that this is real, possible now, and being done right here in Colorado. One of the presenters, Brian Fuentes is a Boulder based architect who is one of a small but growing group of passionate people promoting Passive house construction. It's easy to be impressed by the engineering and design involved with this, and I hope that it grows and becomes the new building standard.  As an architectural photographer I am intrigued by this and can't wait to photograph some new buildings! Thanks to Brian Fuentes and Lance Wright for the presentation, and Todd Collins for the invite!

Below are a few recent photos from some Denver area remodels done by Pinecroft Design. Not passive, just great (and energy efficient) work by Stuart and Chelsea!

Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur is fairly new to the wedding game but has it all figured out. Situated on a beautiful ranch between Colorado Springs and Castle Rock, their site has the ability to host from small groups to 400+. With 7 different ceremony sites and multiple reception buildings, couples will have plenty to choose from. Check out the photos and their site for a mini tour.

Architectural photography has always been interesting to me, and I took all the classes available at Brooks Institute of Photography when getting my degree there. This past year I've been shooting lots of commercial work for Holiday Inn and others, but it's often the custom homes that are my favorites. While we limit ourselves to 20 or so weddings a year, shooting commercially keeps me challenged and well rounded as a photographer. I'm open to and experienced shooting a wide variety of properties including still and 360º virtual tour images.
